Hedgerow Software can’t wait to visit Regina for the CIPHI Annual Education Conference (AEC) in September. We always enjoy seeing our environmental health agency clients and making new friends. Hedgerow will once again be represented onsite by yours truly, Director of Canadian Operations, along with Sheldon Lee our Client Services Lead. Without further ado, here are four reasons we’re excited to attend, exhibit and sponsor the CIPHI AEC in Regina.
1. experience the warmth
Nestled in the heart of the Saskatchewan prairies, Regina is known for its expansive green spaces, including Wascana Centre, one of the largest urban parks in North America. Visitors to the area will experience rolling hills, a vibrant art scene, cultural heritage, and great local cuisine, in addition to the insightful environmental health content and networking opportunities provided by CIPHI.
2. captivating keynotes
Another reason to join us at the AEC is for the exceptional keynote speakers. Dr. Lisa Bélanger is a researcher and behavioural change expert that leverages science to help leaders develop the skills, habits, and work design for practical and sustainable behaviour change. Dr. Bélanger has a methodology to help improve team engagement and shift workplace cultures.
Jill Heinerth is the day two keynote and she’s an Explorer-in-Residence at The Royal Canadian Geographical Society. Beyond having the greatest job title we can imagine, we’re looking forward to her discussion on ways to overcome fears, while providing practical lessons on risk management and safety, discovery learning, failure, and collaboration.
3. agenda trend: air Quality
It’s been a difficult past few years for air quality across Canada. We’re looking forward to the four talks on air pollution -- a quick glance at the session abstracts shows the breadth of related program areas. Agency programs range from indoor air pollution in rural areas to the issues stemming from wildfires in densely populated cities like Vancouver. We hope agencies will also discuss and explore the benefits of technology, like Hedgerow Software, to help field inspectors, managers and back office staff collect/oversee air quality data, sampling, and service inquiries related to minor complaints and major outbreaks within our communities.

4. agenda trend: technology in environmental health
Hedgerow recently blogged about the future of EH and the role technology will play in the profession. We’re predicting big changes over the next decade for our communities and agencies driven by technological advancement. We hope to see thoughtful discussion about how technology can empower agencies to be data-driven, utilize business intelligence, artificial intelligence, and other tools to help improve community engagement and safety.
